Launch / Matua Cellar Door

Why Only Events?

Almost 50 years since its founders planted New Zealand’s first crop of sauvignon blanc grapes, Matua continues to be recognised around the world – and win awards to boot – for its outstanding wines. So in planning the opening of its brand-new Cellar Door it needed something very special; a unique event, delivered with panache and style, that put its finest wines firmly in centre stage.

Meeting the challenge

The Cellar Door’s new home – a beautifully refurbished historic homestead, and Restaurant “The Hunting Lodge” – provided the perfect backdrop to a five-course degustation lunch for 80 guests. Chef Phillip Reynolds crafted a superb menu of meticulously matched wine and food, while Only Events organised everything else – the invitations, the catering crew, the fabulous Caitlin Smith jazz trio, transport for VIP guests and media – and a stunning marquee dressed simply and elegantly in shades of white and green.
